There are a lot of people, especially on eBay, who would tell a customer that the football shirt they're selling is authentic. When the seller is registered in UK or other European countries, most buyers will think that the football shirt is original. But there are a lot of frauds on the web. When a person finally buys the shirt, receives it and discovers that it is synthetic or fake, it is less likely for that customer to get a refund.
To prevent this from happening again, here are some tips on how to spot a fake football shirt on eBay:
1.) If the shirt is priced too low, then the odds of the shirt being original is also very low. No one in the right mind would sell an original, quality shirt for a low price. But if the seller offered a price not too high or not too low, it could be real and that the buyer could just be getting a bargain.
2.) Avoid buying from Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore and other Southeast Asian countries. Sellers will tell customers anything just to get money. They could tell you that the shirt is authentic and that their registered in the UK but actually the shirt is coming from Thailand.
3.) Pay attention to the product descriptions. The description may say that the shirt is brand new and it has tags or the product is high quality. What is said on the description may be true, but the fact that it didn't say that the product is "authentic", it is most likely fake.
4.) Check out the other items the seller is selling. If they sell different kinds of current jerseys of the best teams and/or national teams from different high class manufacturers, their probably selling fake products. Merchants who sell shirts from one single brand or sellers who sell shirts from different seasons may be legit.
5.) Don't put all of your trust on positive reviews. Positive feedbacks from other customers may indicate that the product will surely be received the next buyers but it doesn't mean that the product is original. A buyer might leave a positive remark but does not realize that what he or she purchased is synthetic.
6.) Use your common sense. If it's too good to be true, then it probably is. Think about it, would you sell an authentic football shirt for a very low price?
